Shipping cos want ports to bear dredging costs
Mumbai: Shipping lines calling at Indian ports to load and unload cargo want the government to bear the cost of dredging the port’s channel and berth to lower the charges that they pay to dock at these ports. Port calling costs constitute a major expense for shipping lines entering an Indian port to carry cargo.

US 'no' to duty-free import of Indian jewellery
Days after the collapse of G4 talks on the WTO, the US has withdrawn concessions given to imports on gold jewellery and brass lamps from India as well as auto parts from Brazil as part of a revision of trade sops given to developing countries.

KARACHI: The millers, spinning and private sector commercial companies imported around 4.8 million cotton bales from USA, India, Brazil and central Asian countries during the last fiscal July-June 2007, the traders and importers said on Saturday.
